Let's discuss Tomatoes

  Listening to: Cheap Thrills - Sia Mood - Productive Hello Fellow Gardeners!  I want to discuss tomatoes today. My parents grew tomatoes when I was growing up, and they were delicious. So, of course, that was high on my list of things to grow.  I garden in India. India has 101 thousand pests that affect crops. The mealybugs ladies and gents - the god damned fucking mealybugs. Ahem. I fertilize my tomatoes regularly, we compost at home, and use Epsom salt. I use diluted neem concentrate to control the pests, which sometimes works. We don't have a cold season, and we have red dirt.  What I'm trying hard to figure out at the moment is why my tomatoes live until a certain stage (full grown), then tend to get infested and ultimately die. I know they won't last forever, but I'm not able to identify what is the cause of the premature downfall.  I've recently planted heirloom tomatoes.   Hello and Welcome! You've wandered into my Gardening Blog! Have a seat and don't mind the dirt. My name is Rebekah. I've been a gardener ever since I was little and my parents had a garden. I always loved having my hands in the dirt and nurturing plant life.  I bought my own house recently, so I have lots of space now to grow things, and I wanted to document it here. I have the ground floor space near the front door with green plants, rare stuff, and flowers, the sitout near my office with flowers, succulents, and herbs, and the terrace with the vegetables and fruits.  I'll spare you naming them all right now, as I'll get into some of the different plants in future blogs. None of my spaces have open ground, I'm restricted to container gardening, but we have ample sunlight, and it works. We'll talk about the bees, the mushrooms, and the worm farm at some point, too.
